What We Believe
The Gospel Transforms Lives
Mountainview believes the gospel. God created humanity to have a personal relationship with him. Humanity has been crippled by sin and is separated from God, and so the relationship with God has been broken. Jesus Christ is the solution to our sin problem. Through surrendering our lives to God through Jesus Christ each of us can have a restored relationship with God, discover meaning, purpose, and joy in life, and find power to bring his love into our lives and relationships.
The Bible Reveals "True Truth"
We believe the Scriptures, contained in the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and life. It's God's message to humanity, and we can trust it.
God Is, God Loves
We believe in one living, sovereign and true God, who is infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, coequal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections, in short, the Trinity. God is One. God is love.
People are Amazing, Mostly
We believe that people are created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him and to glorify Him. As image bearers of God, each of us has great dignity, value, and significance. However, because Adam and Eve fell into sin we are spiritually dead, separated from God. Their descendants share the consequences of a free choice, and are utterly unable to please God in any redeeming way, or to earn or merit salvation on our own. Because of the Fall, our spiritual, emotional, relational and even physical health have been radically impaired.

Until Jesus.
Who Jesus Is
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the scriptures. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and, at the right hand of God on High, He now is our High Priest and Advocate.
Why Jesus Came
We believe that God has graciously provided a plan of salvation for fallen humanity. In this plan, Jesus Christ has become our representative, taking our sins upon Himself upon the cross, offering himself as a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice, and to reconcile us to God. Each of us who receives by faith the Lord Jesus Christ is made spiritually alive by the Holy Spirit, who dwells within us. We are made right with God on the basis of His crucifixion; we become children of God, and are guided, filled, and protected by the Holy Spirit until the final Day. Where we were "orphans," because of Jesus we become dearly loved children of God, children in whom our Father delights as much he delights in Jesus himself. Moreover, personal transformation is now possible; we become members of God's family, and a new community becomes our call.
The Church, a Family
We believe in new community. The church is one universal church, of which Christ is the head. Although we are flawed, we trust God to amaze us with his love as we surrender our "baggage" and follow him side by side. The church is Jesus' "body" on earth to extend the Kingdom of God. Water baptism and the Lord's Supper are rites Jesus commanded the Church to observe during this era of human history for entry into the church and to draw strength with God's people.
We Believe in Happy Endings
We believe in the personal, visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because he is just, God will condemn the guilty. Because he is love, God gives us hope. He reveals himself, shows us the Way, and allows us to be responsible for our choices. He will welcome every one of his children, from every nation, tribe, people and tongue, to the everlasting blessedness of His sons and daughters with Christ our brother in heaven.
